Perfect for trumpet and horn (trombone version available upon request), this beautiful, slow ètude (it also happens to be very challenging) is based on JS Bach’s famous “Air” from his Orchestral Suite No. 3.

If you’ve ever heard that “working on the low register will improve your high register,” this etude will prove that point.  It’s such a pretty melody, you won’t even realize you’re working on technique!

    Great Etude.

Even if the low, slow notes look quite simple at first glance, it will take some work to play it really right and make it sound great.

It contains a very nice explanation about imaging and imitating a Cello player playing this melody, which really helps to understand the intended outcome. Only a video of a trumpet player version could be of more help.

If you’re a fan of the approach that practising should focus on sound using rather mid or low notes, softly played – which even Sandoval advocates – check out this thing.
If not check it also out and see if your practising results might improve by improving sound, air, embouchure without getting exhausted.
